Something is Trying to Change My Mind

Bucky Wow! The level of progression these guys have gone through amazes me. They have indeed gone full blown progressive psychedelia on this new one with subtle remnants of their classic country twang.

Mubla Na Thguob Seems like they've drifted from psychedelic country straight into psychedelic proper. This is a rabbit hole I can't wait to jump into.

1.
Mannequins A fix I’m in? a bowl of stars? The evening light just sits here all day long Mannequins Animals come out to watch us pass It seems all things weren't made for man Mannequins A jewel of frost across the sun A silver token laying under my tongue Mannequins It’s nothing anybody needs to know Mannequins
2.
Lock and key seem the same waking beside the steaming James When I breathe in you pass right through me Oh how the mighty wind does blow carrying news I already know It’s Richmond summer but your hands were cold Make our bed in dogwood blooms Don’t you hide the day is young there’s dew on the web the spider spun What’s happens to bell after its rung? What happens to the hymn after it gets sung ? It just hangs there like your perfume Do you have to leave so soon? When sleep the brother of death comes and sucks the breath from everything And dreams the sister of hope tries to rest by my side and comfort me Make our bed in dogwood blooms
3.
How high is your fever? I need to know How deep is your vault? Tell me dear That from here on out it’s only good road From here on out Never take what’s on offer No god wants to be the sun Each sent to resent what we would become It’s going to be summer from now on Can you sleep at all? I don’t know Can you cry with those eyes? Not a tear From here on out it’s only good road Down here it’s white range rovers and biblical floods And hoping to get noticed in the ball gown throw down hoe down Hello heavy ghost From here on out

Thermopolis 05:10
A silent film or so it begins Cooling heels in north flowing rivers An exchange of eyes all rimmed in white I stood and watched while we danced together Clouds make it look so easy We all know who controls the weather Split the screen cut to the scene Of trying to gather what has not scattered Nicely stained and finely grained coursing through the weather vein What’s the forecast please confessor? Is it sunny and breezy? Is the west wind coming on? We all know who controls the weather Golden bits are dropping hints Thermopolis tectonic shifts are moving inside It’s freezing cold but burning holes in the status quo the devil I know is brimstones of time Something is trying to change my mind
5.
All these muddy stars are navigation charts Puffs of smoke from rifles Triggers pulled ten million years ago And if there are spoils we can divide them If I can keep up this pace I’m a horseman out here on the interstate And I’m starting to think that I’m trying to drink the sunshine like rain And this long shadow is just an echo looking searching looking for ears All these bloody scars are navigation charts Heavy blows from rivals Landmarks of denial Tricks pulled 10 million years ago
6.
Well well well here we go so listen up tight and close There may be a vista to obtain While I’m waiting in the parking lot with faith that you have learned enough To come back to me when I call Come out come out I’ll breathe in what you're burning The humming of an angel band the warm beds of the decadent past I can’t see a thing but I know it’s here And when the fever lifts what emerges is a panther with visible ribs Coming to the river to drink Come out come out I’ll breathe in what you're burning Rescuer Weight is so much heavier when you have to carry it Come out Come out I’ll breathe in what you're burning Rescuer
7.
Give me my flowers now live to see the day Make plans for peace time tell the sun you’ll light the way High seas get higher wolves further away Make plans for peace time tell the clouds you’ll carry the rain I have pissed into open hearted wind And I insist that you tell it all again Because what we sow is rows to mow So spread your tears around Make the garden grow spider veins many years from now Because time keeps us honest I promise
8.
There’s nothing quite as crude as words Even myths are basic truths twisted by tongues and time A one-sided story still gets told then follows wherever you go Clinging like a shadow to your heel Please be careful the ink’s not dry The landscape is not the land an hourglass is not the sand Though seconds tick steady on the shore No one has the fists to fight it no one seems to thank the driver after taking the ride Please be careful Please be careful the ink’s not dry Matches are made from trees and nightmares are fears and dreams strolling hand in hand We all recall that Icarus fell but at some point early in the tale he was flying He was flying! Please be careful
